The Golden Age

                                                                              The Elizabethan Age was determined by      daredevils: dashing and plucking people populated the Palace of Whitehall, the Spanish Armada was defeated and Queen Elizabeth constantly tried to prevent her own downfall provoked by her Catholic enemies. Sir Walter Raleigh brought tobacco from Virginia as England became a world power, acquired colonies and worldwide trade started to develop and Sir Francis Drake sailed around the world.

Meanwhile culture, art and architecture reached their peak in the Renaissance. The first theatre, the Globe, opened in London, literature and festival performances boomed and were part of the popular amusement and entertainment in those times.

But not only amusement boomed, also all different kinds of punishment and torture were at their height during the Elizabethan Age and were part of the daily life.
Of course, people in this time also had a different view of the world, they were superstitious and truely believed in witches, sorcerers or astrologers. Besides, clothes were quite different to those we wear today.
